Over the past day, 117 people have died from coronavirus in Iran, raising the toll to 4,110, according to a health official, Report says citing IRNA.

A total of 1,684 people tested positive for the infection, taking the total number to 66,220.

Health Ministry Spokesperson Kianoush Jahanpour stressed that 32,309 people recovered from the illness, while 3,918 others are in critical condition.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China’s Hubei province, and the virus has spread to 209 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed 1,500,000 globally, resulting in more than 330,000 recoveries and over 88,000 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
