Georgian Parliament Speaker: I am proud of hard-working residents of Marneuli

Marneuli municipality has carried out several projects over the past few years, but there is greater potential for development, the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament Kakha Kuchava said while presenting Kanan Omarov, the ruling Georgian Dream Party candidate for mayor of Marneuli.

According to the local bureau of Report, Kuchava called Marneuli a colorful and hard-working district.

"It is not by accident that I used the word 'hard-working.' I often visited Marneuli. When I passed the district at 6 or 7 o'clock in the morning, I saw big and small families working, which caused my pride and surprise. They create wealth not only for their families but for the whole of Georgia."

Attending the event, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that a worthy candidate had been nominated for the post of the Marneuli mayor. He expressed confidence that Omarov would win in the first round.

In turn, Omarov thanked the ruling party for the confidence: "I worked as deputy mayor of Marneuli for six months and got acquainted with the problems of residents. I am confident that the people of Marneuli will make the right choice. We will complete the current projects and implement larger ones."
