Ethnic minorities in Georgia are not represented proportionally in the central or local government bodies, Ombudsman of Georgia Nino Lomjariya said at a briefing on the occasion of International Human Rights Day.

"Unfortunately, year after year, there is no social progress in this issue," she said.

Report's Georgian bureau informs that, according to her, the annual report, which will be prepared for March next year, will reflect the existing problems of integration of ethnic minorities in civil society.

Lomjariya noted that in 2021 the problem of equality remained: "The situation in the field of protection of the rights of women, people with limited physical abilities, representatives of LGBT, ethnic and religious minorities has not changed much."
