Georgia has joined the urgent humanitarian evacuation from Afghanistan, the country's Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili, said.

Report informs that, according to the prime minister, a regional transit hub has been created in the country to this end.

"The hub has been established at the Tbilisi international airport and a military base near the airport. Georgia will accept and temporarily accommodate the evacuated employees of the missions of international organizations in Afghanistan and their family members," Garibashvili said.

He noted that Georgia's decision shows that the country is a reliable partner of the international community.

A source in the Georgian government said that all safety rules related to coronavirus are observed during the process, and respective international organizations bear all costs associated with the process.
