Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili met with the Foreign Ministers of Austria, Lithuania, and Romania - Alexander Schallenberg, Gabrielius Landsbergis, and Bogdan Aurescu, Report's local bureau informs, citing the Georgian government administration.
Garibashvili thanked the foreign ministers for their visit to Georgia and the South Caucasus on the instructions of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.
He said the ministerial mission proved that the EU promotes peace and security in the South Caucasus.
Special attention was paid to the agreement reached between Azerbaijan and Armenia with the United States' participation in the active mediation of the Georgian Prime Minister. The importance of the peaceful settlement of conflicts in the region was stressed.
The FMs thanked Garibashvili for the successful mediation between Azerbaijan and Armenia. Thus, thanks to the mediation, 15 Armenian citizens were released, and important materials related to the mined areas were provided to the Azerbaijani side.
The sides also exchanged views on the problematic situation in the occupied territories of Georgia and the government's strategy for a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
