An earthquake partially destroyed the walls of some buildings and structures in the city of Alaverdi, Lori province of Armenia. Residents left their homes, and some took refuge in cars and garages, Director of the local Ugol + 3 TV Grachya Papinyan told News.am, Report informs.

According to him, stones fell on the roads, especially from the balconies of old houses.

Papinyan said city residents fled their homes, some spending the night in cars and garages. According to him, residents are afraid to return to their homes. Papinyan did not say whether there were any injuries.

At the same time, the natural disaster caused mass unrest in Gyumri. Citizens left their homes and took to the streets.

The earthquake occurred in the northwest of Armenia on February 13, near the border with Georgia. According to the media, 5.4 magnitude tremors were recorded at 9:25 pm (GMT +4). The epicenter was located 42 kilometers northeast of Gyumri, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

The Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations warned that aftershocks would continue after the earthquake. However, the ministry noted that another strong quake is unlikely.

The quake was also felt in several western districts of Azerbaijan.
