Earthquake hits Iran-Turkey border region

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake jolted northwestern Iran on the border with Turkey, according to Iranian Seismological Center, Report says citing RIA Novosti.
According to seismologists, the quake centered in a province of Western Azerbaijan, 139 kilometers away from Tabriz, the district's largest city and administrative center. The aftershocks occurred at a depth of 10 km.
The tremors were recorded at 14:33 local time.
Northwestern Iran and easternmost Turkey lie within the zone of complex structure associated with the continuing collision between the Arabian and Eurasian Plates. On this part of the boundary, a crash is quite oblique.
The first and most destructive of the 2020 Iran-Turkey earthquakes occurred on 23 February, near Khoy in north-west Iran, close to the border with Turkey, killing nine people in Van.
