Coronavirus in Russia: More than thousand new cases recorded

As the new coronavirus that has killed more than 82,000 people worldwide continues to spread, Russia has stepped up its measures to tackle the pandemic and prevent its spread within the country. There have been 8,672 cases of coronavirus infections reported in Russia so far and 63 deaths.

Russia confirmed 1,175 new coronavirus infections on Wednesday, bringing the country’s official number of cases up to 8,672 and marking a further record one-day increase in diseases.

Report says, citing the Operational Headquarters of the country, there have been new 1 175 confirmed cases of COVID-19 infection in 56 regions.

Five patients with a positive test for coronavirus died in the country in a single day, bringing the death toll to 63.

Russia has recorded 8,672 cases of coronavirus infection in 81 regions so far, with an increase of more than 15% over the past day, the headquarters said.

On December 31, 2019, Chinese authorities announced an outbreak of pneumonia in the city of Wuhan. The causative agent of the disease is a new type of coronavirus, which has the official name COVID-2019.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared a pandemic of a new type of coronavirus in the world.
