Coronavirus cases exceed 1,000 in Russia

The number of people infected with the novel coronavirus in Russia has grown by 196 over the last day and amounts to 1,036 people, Report informs referring to TASS news agency.

The infection cases are related to 58 regions of Russia, while 45 people have recovered.

“Seven people have been discharged over the past day,” reads the report. “A total of 45 people have been discharged over the entire period.”

The new 196 cases were recorded in 16 regions of the country, while 157 cases - in Moscow. One more person died in Moscow, bringing the coronavirus death toll to three people in Russia.

The outbreak in China’s Wuhan city - which is an international transport hub - began at a fish market in late December 2019. The number of people killed by the disease has surpassed 24,000. Over 532,000 people have been confirmed as infected. Meanwhile, over 124,000 people have reportedly recovered.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared COVID-19 a pandemic on March 11.
