Foreign minister: Turkey may start anti-terror operation in Syria any time
Report/ Elchin Murad

Baku. 10 January. REPORT.AZ/ "Our movement against PKK / YPG-PYD does not depend on the withdrawal of US troops from the region," Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu told NTV.

"Suleyman Demirel used to say: 'The wheel of super powers never moves back.' We see that the United States is moving back on the Syrian issue. US President Donald Trump made a decision on the issue and made a speech. On January 9, Secretary of State Michael Pompeo also commented on the issue. Turkey sheltered hundreds of thousands of Kurds banished by PKK / YPG-PYD in Syria. Our problem is the support to this terrorist group from the United States. This terrorist group controls those territories only with the support of US. It is not right when, despite our alliance and cooperation within NATO, US provides assistance to a terrorist organization. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said that we will enter the east of the Euphrates River. Donald Tramp's promise is in force for us," the foreign minister stressed.

"I plan to have phone talk with Michael Pompeo. We agreed with both him and Donald Trump regarding the future of Turkey. Mutual visits are useful”, Çavuşoğlu said.
