Georgian media report that Lukashenko's unofficial visit to Abkhazia is taking place without Tbilisi's consent. The Georgian authorities have not yet made any comments or expressed their position.

Abkhazia is a breakaway republic backed by Russia that seceded from Georgia.

Majority of UN members, including Belarus, recognize Abkhazia as part of Georgia's sovereign territory.
