An Azerbaijani activist of the student movement in Iran, a student of the Faculty of Journalism of the University named after Allame Tabatabai, Maleyka (Malika) Garagezlu was arrested in the city of Zangan and transferred to the Evin prison in Tehran.
Report informs citing Gunaztv that her lawyer Muhammedali Kamfiruzi shared the relevant publication on social media.
According to him, his client was detained by law enforcement officers on October 1.
The lawyer said that during a short conversation with her mother, Garagezlu said that she was being held in the 209th department of the Evin prison in Tehran.
The Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced the 22-year-old Azerbaijani activist to 4 years and 4 months in prison in September, but she was awaiting a final decision on her transfer to prison. By the decision of the court, Garagezlu will spend at least 3 years and 8 months of the term assigned to her in prison.
