Armenia's coronavirus tally tops 26 thousand

As of July 23, 36 162 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in Armenia. The number of infected in one day has grown by 469, Report says, citing RIA Novosti.

According to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the country, 25 244  people have recovered so far, while 10 032 are getting treatment.

The total death toll reached 688 as 10 other patients died with COVID-19.

Notably, yesterday Armenia reported 439 infections and 16 fatal cases. 

Armenia reported its first coronavirus infection on March 1, in a citizen returning from neighboring Iran, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Facebook.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in late 2019 in China's Hubei province, and the virus has spread to over 200 countries and territories since then.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
