Venezuela opens exchange offices for the first time since 2003

Baku. 1 March. REPORT.AZ/ The Central Bank of Venezuela has opened two currency exchange office in its central building, Report informs citing Kommersant.

There have been no legal exchange offices in the country since 2003.

It is noted that the official exchangers will be opened in other regions, too.

Generally, more than 300 exchange offices will be opened in the territory of Venezuela. Purchase and sale of dollars and euros will be carried at the rate set by the Central Bank of Venezuela.

Notably, the currency exchange for the country's citizens was limited from 2003 to 2018, and criminal punishment was provided for illegal exchange.
