Vance: Deal with Iran does not include unfreezing Iranian assets

US Vice President JD Vance has stated that a new agreement with Iran does not provide for the unfreezing of Iranian assets.

According to Report, Vance said in a post on X that a significant amount of inaccurate information is circulating regarding a potential agreement between the United States and Iran.

"First, the Iranians are not receiving any cash, and no funds are being released for simply signing a deal or attending a meeting. The deal is structured to ensure that the US and its allies concerns are prioritized, and that if the Islamic Republic of Iran meets its obligations, then economic benefits will flow to them and to the entire region," Vance wrote.

He stressed that the prospective agreement could transform the situation in the region and create conditions for lasting peace.

The US vice president also criticized some of the commentary surrounding the proposed deal.

"People who (rightly) said Donald Trump was a historic president a month ago now criticizing a deal based on unconfirmed media reports," he noted.
