US to support modernization of Moldovan army

The United States is ready to support the modernization of the Moldovan army, Report informs, citing the Moldovan Defense Ministry.

The issue was discussed during a meeting between US Senator Steve Daines and Moldovan Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi.

During the meeting, the sides discussed regional security, opportunities for expanding the partnership between the two countries in the framework of bilateral military cooperation and strategic dialogue.

Anatolie Nosatîi appreciated the comprehensive support provided by the American partners in various projects and programs, including in the field of training, logistics and modernization of the Moldovan National Army infrastructure.

Earlier, former Moldovan Prime Minister Iurie Leancă said that if the Russian army approached its borders, Moldova would have to unite with Romania.
