US government sues Walmart

The US Department of Justice has filed a lawsuit against Walmart, the largest chain of stores in the country, in Delaware, Report states, citing TASS.

The US government has accused the company of failing to distribute potent drugs through pharmacies properly. As a result, there was a crisis over opioids in the country.

The ministry, which also serves as the US Attorney's Office, claims that Walmart has violated drug-related laws recently.

The federal officials say Walmart must pay billions of dollars in fines.

In late October, Walmart sued the US government over the country's opioid crisis. The company's lawyers believe that due to miscalculations in American law enforcement agencies' activities, the number of people who regularly take and depend on various drugs has increased.
