U.S. law enforcement wants additional National Guard units to remain in Washington during President Donald Trump's impeachment, Report informs, referring to Associated Press.
According to one of the officials, this is due to threats against lawmakers.
Threats of armed protesters returning to attack Congress have forced Capitol police and other law enforcement officials to insist that thousands of National Guard troops stay in Washington while the Senate considers impeachment.
There have been opinions on the Internet that Congress members will be attacked on their way to and from work. Law enforcement officials prepare for the demonstrators' possible reaction by February 8, when the impeachment process will begin.
