Trump: US hopes to hold talks with Iran next week

The United States administration hopes to hold negotiations with Iran next week regarding its nuclear program and reach an agreement, US President Donald Trump said during a press conference in The Hague following the NATO summit, Report informs via TASS.

“I’ll tell you what, we’re going to talk with them next week, with Iran. We may sign an agreement, I don’t know,” Trump said.

Trump said he wasn’t particularly interested in restarting negotiations with Iran, insisting that US strikes had destroyed its nuclear program.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who also participated in the press conference, the United States would like to have peaceful relations with any country, and obviously, that will depend on Iran’s willingness not only to take part in peace talks but to negotiate directly with the United States — not through some third or fourth country,
