Former US President Donald Trump made it clear that he is seriously considering the possibility of participating in the next presidential election in 2024, Report informs.
Trump made such a statement on December 1 on the air of the British TV channel GB News.
Speaking to GB News presenter Nigel Farage, Trump was asked why he would consider ‘going back into hell again’ and re-enter mainstream politics.
“I love our country. I brought the country to a level it's never seen before. Then we had Covid come in and then I brought it back, came up with vaccines that you’re using, we’re all using, the world is using, saved tens of millions of people throughout the world in less than nine months. It was supposed to take 12 years… they were expecting it to take 12 years and everyone said it wasn’t going to work and they worked incredibly well. We’ve done an amazing job. This is a wonderful, beautiful life, but I like that [politics] too because I’m helping people. That’s why I did it,” he said.
The former President also attacked his political opponents: “Two fake impeachments, Russia Russia, Russia - which now turned out to be a total hoax and everybody knows it. They should take away the Pulitzer Prizes from writers that knowingly, in most cases, were writing about fiction - it was pure fiction.”
The former president has previously implied that he intends to run for office again in 2024.
In the spring of this year, he told Sean Hannity on Fox News that he was ‘looking at it very seriously, beyond seriously.’
Trump confirmed to GB News that he would be ‘helping a lot of people’ in the upcoming midterm elections.
“We’ve been endorsing candidates. But what’s happening is everybody wants the endorsement, [it] has become very important. The most important and most powerful endorsement that our country has seen. So I have an obligation to make sure the right people get in."
