The Chinese government has decided to revoke the accreditation of three Wall Street Journal correspondents in Beijing,  Report informs, citing TASS.

A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry, Geng Shuang, said the measure came after WSJ published an article headlined "China Is the Real Sick Man of Asia" on measures to fight the coronavirus outbreak.

According to the diplomat, the Chinese authorities demanded that the editors of the Wall Street Journal publicly apologize and punish the perpetrators, but their appeal was not met.

"China has, therefore, decided to revoke the accreditation of three Wall Street Journal correspondents in Beijing," he said.

Shuang said WSJ published an article "discrediting the efforts of the Chinese government and the Chinese people in the fight against the epidemic."

"The editors also dared to give the article a stunning racist headline, "China Is the Real Sick Man of Asia',  which caused a public uproar in China and prompted widespread international condemnation. China protested several times, repeatedly explaining its firm and upright position. They demanded that the newspaper acknowledge the seriousness of its mistake, publicly apologize, conduct an investigation and punish those responsible."
