Senate may consider Trump's impeachment after inauguration of Biden

The Senate of Congress may consider the current US leader Donald Trump's impeachment after his presidential term, Report states, citing TASS.

According to a memo circulated by Upper House Republican majority leader Mitch McConnell, the Senate will not meet to discuss any significant issues requiring a vote until January 19. It will be possible only with the consent of all 100 senators.

If there is no such unanimous decision, then if the House of Representatives approves the impeachment articles against Trump and appoints prosecutors, the Senate will accept them and receive the items only on January 19 or 20. It will start the process only on January 20 or 21 at one o'clock in the afternoon local time (21: 00 Moscow time). Trump's presidential term expires at noon (20:00 GMT) on January 20, when Joseph Biden's inauguration will take place. "The Senate process will thus begin after the end of Trump's presidential term - either an hour after it ends on January 20 or 24 hours after it ends on January 21," McConnell's memo notes.
