Saudi Arabia has decided to cancel the mandatory mask-wearing outdoors from October 17, Report informs, citing TASS that the kingdom's Interior Ministry announced it today.

"Masks are no longer mandatory outdoors," the ministry said in a statement.

“Saudi Arabia is starting to soften restrictions associated with the coronavirus pandemic as new cases are declining."

At the same time, people still have to wear masks indoors and in certain venues.

Until the last moment, the violation of the mask regime was severely punished. In September, a national of the kingdom was sentenced to five months in prison for taking off his mask in a public place and refusing to obey the direction of a security officer.
