Sandu: Russia trying to use Moldova’s territory for war in Ukraine

Russia is trying to use the territory of Moldova for the war in Ukraine, President of Moldova Maia Sandu said, Report informs referring to RBC-Ukraine.

“There are attempts by the Russian Federation to undermine, overthrow the government, and we have evidence. It is clear that Russia is trying to establish a pro-Russian government in Chisinau in order to use Moldova against Ukraine, as happens, for example, in the case of Belarus,” she said.

Sandu reminded the recent statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin about his intention to place tactical nuclear weapons on the territory of Belarus. She said that Russia wants to do the same in the case of Moldova, but the country has “an independent government elected by its citizens, working for the benefit of citizens and Moldova, so it cannot be used in the way that the pro-Russian leadership would use it.”
