Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov labeled the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) as a "useless" organization that fails to contribute to finding solutions, Report informs.
"There is not a single area left where the OSCE could play even a marginally useful role in seeking answers to direct questions within its remit. Doesn't the investigation of the terrorist attack on the Nord Stream pipelines fall under the scope of the first and second baskets?" he said during the 31st OSCE Ministerial Council meeting in Malta.
Lavrov emphasized that in the current global landscape, characterized by profound shifts in the balance of world powers, the OSCE could have served as a point of convergence for the interests of all members of the European space.
However, he argued that "no one in this room would even think of using the OSCE for these purposes." He attributed this to NATO and EU members pushing the OSCE to the margins of political processes through their actions, rendering the organization meaningless to all other members.
The Russian Foreign Minister concluded by stating that in the OSCE's real-world politics, there remains no room for either cooperation or security.
