Sofia and Astana are set to sign a series of memorandums on Monday aimed at enhancing the Middle Corridor, according to Report's Kazakhstan bureau.
"The signing of several important memorandums following this visit will help us jointly strengthen the Middle Corridor, which is vital not only for Europe and Asia, but also for Bulgaria," Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said during extended-format talks with his Kazakh counterpart, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, at the Akorda Presidential Palace.
He emphasized that the concept of connectivity is key to the success of both countries.
"Connectivity is essential in the EU’s relations with Kazakhstan. Bulgaria and Kazakhstan must take advantage of our strategic locations, as both countries are key elements in connecting Europe and Asia," the Bulgarian president added.
The two nations plan to enhance cooperation in areas such as transportation, digitalization, and tourism.
Radev also noted that Bulgaria considers Kazakhstan a priority partner in Central Asia.
"The country's rapid economic growth, breakthroughs in innovation, science, education, and high technology are impressive. Yesterday, I visited the National Space Center—your achievements left a deep impression on me," he said.
Meanwhile, President Tokayev highlighted that the two countries are already cooperating productively in sectors such as mining, manufacturing, transport, and construction.
"We see great potential for cooperation in promising areas such as energy, transport and logistics, green transition, nuclear industry, space, agriculture, digitalization, healthcare, and tourism," Tokayev said.
He also mentioned that around 60 companies with Bulgarian participation are currently operating successfully in the Kazakh market.
