Paris house of former French minister robbed

Burglars stole valuables worth about 120,000 euros from the house of former French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy in Paris, Europe 1 Radio said, Report informs via TASS.

According to Europe 1, the ex-minister lost two Patek Philippe watches, jewelry and leather goods, as well as luxury clothing items. The politician was not at home at the time of the burglary and only found out about the incident upon his return. Douste-Blazy filed a report of theft, and the case was transferred to the police.

Earlier, French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal promised to work to improve safety on the streets of French cities by increasing the number of police patrols and improving coordination between law enforcement agencies, educational institutions and social services. Particular attention is also expected to be paid to the prevention of burglary.

Douste-Blazy served as France's Minister of Culture in 1995-1997, and as Minister of Health and Social Protection in 2004-2005. From 2005 to 2007 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Dominique de Villepin.
