Mass arrests were reported in Paris and its surrounding areas as protests erupted over ongoing parliamentary tensions.
Report informs that, according to Le Figaro, which cites the Paris Police Prefecture, as of 2:30 PM local time, 183 people had been detained across the city and its suburbs.
The demonstrations come amid a political crisis: the parliament recently passed a vote of no confidence against Prime Minister François Bayrou, and President Emmanuel Macron appointed Sébastien Lecornu as the new head of government-the fifth prime ministerial appointment in two years. Opposition parties are preparing further votes of no confidence.
