Niger sends formal notice to ECOWAS regarding its withdrawal

The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has received formal notice from the Niger authorities that the country is leaving the organization, Report informs via Reuters.
ECOWAS earlier said it was ready to begin negotiations to resolve the situation with Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger leaving the organization.
Previously, Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger said they would leave ECOWAS with immediate effect.
A representative of the Niger military authorities claimed that the organization had failed to help these states in their fight against terrorism and improve the security situation.
