Baku. 6 November. REPORT.AZ/ NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg left for an undeclared visit to Afghanistan, Alliance representative Oana Lungescu wrote on her Twitter page, Report informs citing TASS.

"He is accompanied by the head of the NATO Military Committee Stuart Peach and commander of joint NATO forces in Europe Curtis Scaparotti," she said.

By the information, Stoltenberg intends to hold meetings with the President of Afghanistan, members of the government and representatives of civil society. In addition, the Secretary General will meet with the commander of the NATO mission in Afghanistan "Resolute support" Scott Miller, NATO senior civilian representative Cornelius Zimmerman and military personnel of the mission.

According to the diplomatic sources, the main topics discussed by NATO with the Afghan authorities are the possible expansion of the mission of NATO instructors and advisers, the prospects of negotiations with the Taliban and external financing of the Afghan army, which requires more than $ 4 billion a year.
