The Ramstein Legacy 2022 will test the air defence capabilities of the Baltic States and Poland from May 30 to June 6 in the Ogre district, including the National Armed Forces Aviation Base.

According to NATO, this Integrated Air and Missile Defence (IAMD) exercise is going to be "the largest ground-based IAMD exercise in the world, bringing together NATO IAMD Allies and partners to build theatre-wide procedural interoperability."

The training will take place simultaneously in the territory and airspace of Poland, Lithuania, Estonia, and Latvia.

Approximately 300 soldiers from the Air Defense units of the Air Force, the Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Land Forces, the National Guard, as well as from the Air Defense Units of the Italian, Czech, and US Armed Forces will take part in the training in Latvia.

The exercise will involve NATO military aviation and short-range air defence systems, including the RBS-70, STINGER and AVENGER missiles.
