The organizers of the riots in the colony in the suburb of Dushanbe are members of IS terrorist grouping, TASS informs citing the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan. According to the ministry, Bekhruz Gulmurod, Gulov Fakhriddin, Sharipov Makhmadullo and Khasanov Ruhullo were direct leaders of the riot. It is noted that Gulmurod is the son of the ex-colonel of the Tajik riot police Gulmurod Halim, who joined ISIS and was subsequently killed in Syria.
The Ministry of Justice added that at first the organizers of the riots “brutally” killed three officers of the colony, freed eight other supporters of the ISIS, and then beat and wounded dozens of other prisoners. After they set fire to the medical unit, took several prisoners hostage and attacked the prison staff in order to escape.
As a result of the special operation, 24 members of this group were neutralized, another 35 were detained, and the hostages were released, the department concluded.
