Macron eyes sending armored vehicles, helicopters to New Caledonia

French authorities will send additional armored vehicles and helicopters to New Caledonia, French President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference following his visit to New Caledonia, Report informs referring to TASS.

The French president emphasized that 3,000 law enforcement officers were deployed to suppress the protests, including 130 members of the special police, RAID and GIGN gendarmerie units.

“The main task is to restore calm and order as quickly as possible,” Macron noted.
