Lebanon and Israel have reached an agreement on the demarcation of maritime borders, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, told reporters after meeting with the US ambassador in Beirut, Report informs.

According to Nabih Berri, the agreement will be signed at the Ras Al Naqoura Crossing (Rosh HaNikra), as stipulated in the bilateral memorandum of intent.

The Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament added that this step will help resolve the border dispute regarding the ownership of oil and gas fields on the sea shelf.

There is a dispute between Lebanon and Israel over a shelf area of 856 square meters. The disputed area is located at the junction of Lebanon's Qana gas field with Israel's Karish field.
