President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that he personally and the Ukrainian authorities will deal with the return of the former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili to Kyiv, as he is a citizen of Ukraine now, Report informs via Ukrainian media.

“As the President of Ukraine, and you know this very well, I am constantly engaged in returning Ukrainian citizens home. With various options that I have. Which are given to me by the legislation. Mr. Saakashvili is a citizen of Ukraine, so this also applies to him. All institutions, including the Foreign Ministry, and our embassy in Georgia, and the Georgian ambassador in Ukraine … - we will all be engaged in this,” Zelensky noted.

Earlier, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili said that Saakashvili was detained in Georgia. Prior to this, the ex-president said that he intended to return to his homeland by the October local elections.
