Kremlin says Lavrov-Pompeo meeting agreed

The meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo next week in Finland has been agreed, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Ryabkov told TASS.

“Yes, the meeting has been agreed,” he said, responding to a request to comment on a statement by a high-ranking State Department official the day before that Lavrov and Pompeo could meet on the margins of the 11th Arctic Council Ministerial meeting in Finland on May 6-7.

Notably, on May 1, Lavrov and Pompeo discussed the situation in Venezuela in a telephone conversation.
