The Scientific and Technical Committee of the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) has authorized the use of two new antiviral drugs, molnupiravir and remdesivir, to treat COVID-19, Report informs via foreign media.

So, these drugs can be used for the treatment of non-hospitalized patients with mild to moderate COVID-19. The medicine will be used at the initial stage of the disease to prevent it from becoming severe.

The use of molnupiravir will begin in Italy on January 4.
