"Deliberate harming civilians is a war crime, and I strongly condemn it," Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said while commenting on the murder of civilians in the Ukrainian city of Bucha, the Report informs.

"It is impossible to remain indifferent to the horrific scenery in the town of Bucha, near Kyiv," the minister wrote on Twitter.

Israel has so far taken a neutral position on Russia's military operation against Ukraine.

Those who targeted the local population in Bucha were the 64th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 35th Special Forces of the Russian Armed Forces. They are expected to revisit Ukraine in the coming days.

After the withdrawal of Russian troops from Bucha on March 31, numerous war crimes of the Russian forces were revealed in the town – such as the killing of civilians, torture, rape, and looting.

Photos taken by journalists and depicting the bodies of killed civilians in the liberated Bucha have gone viral. The killings were condemned by activists, politicians, and cultural figures in Russia, Ukraine, and other countries. Many reputable publications and experts have described the incident as an act of genocide, and the perpetrators of the massacre have been compared to Nazi Germany's war criminals.
