Germany's new chancellor plans to hold phone call with US president

Friedrich Merz, who was elected Chancellor of Germany yesterday, will have a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump on May 8, Report informs.
"I will have a telephone conversation with the US president on Thursday. We do not know each other personally. We will meet at the NATO summit in The Hague in June at the latest, or sooner. We will have a frank conversation. I will convey the position not only of Germany, but also of the European Union," Merz said in an interview with the ZDF television channel.
