Germany has confirmed 214 new cases of the new type of coronavirus infection over the past day, while six more people died, Report says.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, which is part of the German Health Ministry and keeps statistics on COVID-19, the total number of confirmed cases reached 184,193. The death toll stans for 8,674, and over 169 thousand recovered.

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in China’s Hubei province in 2019, and the virus has spread to 212 countries and territories since then.

To date, COVID-19 cases surpassed seven mln globally, resulting in more than 400,000 recoveries and over 300,000 deaths.

On February 11, the WHO officially named the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) as COVID-19, and on March 11, declared it a pandemic.
