After the Nice Church attack, another knife-wielding man tried to attack a group of police officers patrolling Avignon's streets in southeastern France, Report says, citing French press. The officers opened fire, killing the assailant.
According to French media, the reported attack took place at approximately 11:15 local time; the alleged attacker lunged at the officers.
The incident took place shortly after an attack at the basilica in the Norte-Dame area of Nice in which three people were killed by a man armed with a knife.
Meanwhile, France has raised the attack alert level to 'urgent' and has launched an investigation into the attack. In contrast, anti-terrorism prosecutors have already begun investigating the Church attack in Nice.
