France is introducing mandatory vaccination of medical staff, President Emmanuel Macron said in a televised address to the nation, Report informs, citing TASS.

"We are introducing the mandatory vaccination against coronavirus for the medical staff and representatives of several other professions... Control and administrative penalty will be applied to check the compliance with the decree starting September 15," the French leader said.

He said the measures are due to the worsening epidemiological situation. "Our country has faced a strong resumption of the epidemic," Macron said.

The head of state noted that the mandatory vaccination covers doctors and auxiliaries, including those working in hospitals or caring for patients at home.

The president said an extraordinary session of the parliament would take place in France on July 21 to consider the complicated sanitary situation and adopt new acts to fight the epidemic. The bill on mandatory vaccination of population groups and expanded use of sanitary passes will be submitted to the State Council on Tuesday to check its content. The ministerial council is to consider it on July 19.
