Estonia introducing additional ban on Russian goods

From January 9, Estonia will introduce an additional ban on the import of Russian goods, Report informs referring to Interfax.

“On January 9, the transitional period of sanctions imposed by the European Union on a number of consumer goods originating in the Russian Federation ends, and from Monday their import into the European Union will be prohibited. The transitional period will also end for sanctions goods for which supply contracts were concluded before October 7,” the Tax and Customs Department of the country said.

Piret Tinkus, leading specialist of the Tax and Customs Board’s Customs Organization Department’s Customs Policy Implementation Division, announced that as of January 9 it is forbidden for both individuals and legal entities to import several (types of) consumer goods from the Russian Federation, including cosmetics, detergents and cleaning products, clothes, shoes, etc.

Prohibited items must be returned from the border, abandoned or confiscated.

The prohibited items also include cigarettes; iron and steel products; cosmetics and hair care products; construction materials; women’s clothing; shoes, etc.
