The death toll from landslides on the Riau Islands in northern Indonesia has risen to 33, according to police representative Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadan, Report informs referring to TribunNews.
“The bodies were in the police of the Riau Islands until 7 p.m. In total, 33 people died,” he said. In addition, 21 people are listed as missing.
Earlier it was reported about 25 dead.
A series of landslides in the Riau Islands occurred due to powerful heavy rains. Currently, search and rescue operations are ongoing, which are complicated by adverse weather conditions.
