Czech President calls for adoption of euro in his country

Czech President Petr Pavel called for the republic to adopt the single European currency, Report informs via TASS.

Pavel made similar remarks at the international conference “20 years of the Czech Republic’s EU membership: a vision of an expanded Europe.”

“If we want to play in the major leagues, then it is logical to adopt the euro. The experience of countries that have already switched to payments in the euro confirms that only those who do not use it are unhappy,” he said.

Pavel first announced the need to begin taking concrete steps towards transferring the Czech Republic to payments in euros in his New Year's address to his fellow citizens. Four out of five parties in the current government coalition of the republic support this initiative.
