The Dixie Fire in Northern California has become the largest wildfire in the state's history.
The fire has torn through more than 487,00 acres in Butte, Plumas, Tehama, and Lassen counties and has been ongoing for more than 27 days.
Dixie covered 487 thousand acres (197 thousand hectares) of forest in almost four weeks, became the largest single fire in California and the second most extensive forest fire in the state for all time of observations. Now it is second only to the complex fire that raged in August last year. Currently, firefighters have managed to localize only 25% of the fire source.
According to CNN, about 16 thousand buildings are under threat. Close to 9, 600 personnel have been assigned to fight off the devastating fire, but only a 25percent of the blaze has been contained.
