Negotiations are underway between the United States and Iran for a ceasefire in exchange for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
Three senior officials told Axios reporter Barak Ravid that talks had begun but that it was unclear whether a deal would be reached.
Donald Trump said earlier today that Iran had asked for a ceasefire but that he would only consider such a request if it reopened the strait.
