Australia to allocate about $ 1.4 billion to recover from fires

Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that over the next two years, the country's authorities will allocate at least 2 billion Australian dollars (about $ 1.4 billion) to restore Australia after a forest fire. Report informs citing the RT.

It is noted that for these purposes, the National Fund for Recovering from Forest Fire will be created in Australia.

The funds will be directed to help local authorities, farmers, and producers of raw materials. It is also planned to invest in health programs.

“We will ensure the vitality and future of this country, and we will do this by investing in the work that needs to be done,” the country's prime minister said.

Morrison added that he expects Australian state governments to invest heavily in rebuilding bridges, roads and schools destroyed by fires.

Earlier in Australia, 3,000 reservists were called in to deal with fires.

Large-scale forest fires in southeast Australia have been ongoing since last October
