The Australian government has appointed a woman to head a major Australian spy agency for the first time in the history, Report informs, citing the Gazeta.ru.
Rachel Noble will become the next director-general of the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD).
ASD is engaged in interception of electronic communications of foreign states.
“Her appointment to this leadership role is a significant step forward for women in the national security sector and we congratulate her,” Morrison and Defence Minister Linda Reynolds said in a statement.
