All Kazakhstani financial institutions suspend activities

All financial institutions in Kazakhstan have suspended their activities after the counter-terrorist operation and disruptions to the internet, spokesperson of the Kazakhstani National Bank Olzhas Ramazanov said, Report informs via Khabar 24 TV.

“The Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Regulation and Development of the Financial Market and the National Bank of Kazakhstan, taking into account the conduct of counter-terrorism operations by law enforcement agencies and temporary disruptions on the internet, announce the temporary suspension of the activities of all financial organizations in the country,” Ramazanov said.

He noted that this measure is also aimed at protecting the health and lives of employees and clients of financial institutions.

Protests in Kazakhstan began in the first days of the new year. Residents of the cities of Zhanaozen and Aktau, in the oil-producing Mangistau region, rallied to protest against a twofold increase in the price of liquefied petroleum gas, used as fuel for cars.
